THE WAYANAD SANCTUARY
We catch the bus for Wayanad in order to visit the jungle. It was about a four hours ride by bus. The temperature and the climate were totally different here. We left Kerala's warm, moist climate behind, the weather here was so cold and the bus didn't had windows to protect us from cold but we had biscuits for breakfast and lunch, till we get there.
The Ente Veedu (my own home)
We spend two wonderful days and nights with Paj family.
I would never forget their warm
hospitality, they treat us like their children.

A tribal tree house.
Gisela, Brigit and I were visit a tea plantation with our guide and friend Nash. Acres and acres of tea, coffee estates where cardamom, pepper, cinnamon, jack fruit, chickoo, ginger (adhrak), cautsuc, vanilla all grow in harmony. We also visit the famous Thirunelly Temple (a holly place) but unfortunately my camera had empty battery..
A natural fresh water lake surrounded by evergreen forest and rolling hills. Nash help us to passed the river and get in the jungle with a bamboo raft.
It was an hour evening safari with jeeps into the wild jungle. We saw samba deers, bisons, wild peacocks and some other exotic birds. It's rare to see wild elephants but we saw a couple of males fighting from a distance - I don't know why, ...but no tigers. Tigers are very shy and suspicious animals and if they smell human presence they are living at once. So we were not disappointed by missing them. It was special just to be in a place where you know they are there living their lives in freedom and safeness. And as the label is writting at the entrance "Leave nothing but foot prints, Take nothing but memories"! (Tholpetty Wildlife Santuary - Wayanad)This purple vegetable was a kind of root tasted like potato, very delicious!
